Cultural Associations

It is an environmentalist association that aims to pay particular attention to the following themes: peace, critical consumption, the "ecological growth" of the individual, architectural barriers, nutrition, air, noise and marine pollution, learning and research, the defense of the environment and cultural heritage.

It deals with the study, dissemination and research in the various branches of Astronomy. It promotes both in the city and provincial educational-scientific activities, research, theoretical-practical courses, meetings, conferences, photographic exhibitions, lessons and competitions for schools of all levels. It is also active in the observations of celestial phenomena, both in the amateur and educational field, and in the semi-professional and research field.

It is an association that aims to promote the knowledge and culture of Earth Sciences, in particular geology and mineralogy, and the historical and environmental aspects related to them for the territory of the Livorno Mountains and Tuscany.
The project was born thanks to the initiative of a group of founding members, united by their interest in geology and mineralogy, who decided to combine their skills and experiences in a group work with the common intent of carrying out a series of activities in favor of the diffusion of these scientific themes.

It was founded in 2001 with the aim of contributing to the cultural growth of its members and the community, by deepening their knowledge and comparing the different ancient and modern realities of the Mediterranean area.

Born on Facebook as a place to post photos and postcards of old Livorno, the association Livorno Come Era has achieved astonishing success, to the point of gathering more than 11,000 members, both Livornese and non-Livornese.
The aims of the association are to promote historical, artistic, urban, literary, musical, landscape, gastronomic and cultural research of the city of Livorno.

A science café takes place in a place open to the public: a venue (bar, café, beer house), the meeting room of a cultural association or a library, a school.
The Association promotes and spreads knowledge of science, technology and related topics, addressing citizens and the world of schools; it investigates and informs about their social impact, their history and their ethical and political implications.

The Circle, which, starting from the 2011 financial year, takes the name of “Circolo di cultura politica G. E. Modigliani” (Circle of political culture G. E. Modigliani), aims to promote the major themes of reform of civil society in the economic, social and political fields, democracy and justice, development and ethics, research and information. It organizes economic-themed study courses aimed at citizens.

They promote the meeting of people who wish to engage together in different activities, in a climate of trust and mutual tolerance, without any discrimination.

The foundation therefore has as its aim the education and instruction of the community in the defense of the environment and the monumental artistic heritage, and pursues this aim by proceeding through conservation and recovery actions of goods purchased both for a fee and free of charge, or received in concession; where possible, it provides for the opening of the restored works to the public.

Established on May 14, 1967, its purpose is to promote the development of collaborative relationships between the Cave Groups of Tuscany and between these and the Italian and foreign Cave Groups, to promote and organize research and study activities, to enhance and defend the results achieved. The F.S.T. also contributes to the protection of caves, as well as to the protection of the surface karst landscape.

The "Italian Group for the Research of Spontaneous Orchids", founded in 1994, is based in Faenza but covers almost the entire national territory. The Livorno Section, established in 2001, has the aim of promoting the study, knowledge and protection of these plants that grow spontaneously also in our country. Its research activity is aimed at the study, census and protection of orchids that are found in the provincial territory.

The Group deals with physical anthropology, that is, it studies the origins and evolution of man until the appearance of Homo sapiens, the current humanity.
It studies human finds discovered during archaeological excavations of necropolises or ancient churches and organizes campaigns for the recovery of human material.
The Group also deals with the evolution of animals and studies the remains that emerge from archaeological excavations. It organizes informative exhibitions on human evolution and on the findings made and organizes conferences on anthropological, naturalistic, cultural subjects that are held by graduates specialized in the individual disciplines and by university professors at.

The Archaeological Group and the Paleontological Group were founded in 1976 and subsequently, in 1997, united in a single Association formed by scholars of the historical and naturalistic aspects of the Livorno area.
The main aim is to collaborate with the Museum of Natural History of the Mediterranean, with the Archaeological Superintendence for Tuscany, with the Universities and with other Institutions, to protect the landscape around the city of Livorno and in its Province, in all its archaeological, historical and naturalistic aspects, to discover its wonders and make them known both to the scientific world and to the citizens

It is a cultural association founded in 1976. The main purposes of the Group are the study of flora and vegetation of the province of Livorno. Over the years it has continued to operate in the organization of courses, conferences, exhibitions, and botanical excursions.

It takes its name from the first Esperanto group already present in the territory since 1925, it is a cultural and social promotion association, neutral with respect to political and religious ideologies. It shares and adheres to the purposes that intend to contribute to facilitating interpersonal relations and cooperation between peoples, according to the principles of democracy of equality. It promotes the knowledge and teaching of the Esperanto language in schools of all levels through courses.

The group carries out the mapping and census of mushrooms in collaboration with the Association of Tuscan Mycological Groups and the census and mapping of lichens in the Migliarino-San Rossore-Massaciuccoli Regional Park.
Every year, the introductory course to mycology takes place, a tool not only for disseminating information on the world of mushrooms, but also for educating people to love and respect Nature.

It was founded in 1972 and deals with speleological exploration as scientific research of underground environments and naturalistic or anthropic contexts to which the cavities belong, whether natural or artificial, especially in the karst areas of the Apuan Alps and the karst and mining areas of the Campiglia Marittima Mountains. It is a member of the Tuscan Speleological Federation, the Italian Speleological Society and the National Commission of Speleology Schools.

It was founded in 2013 in Livorno by a group of scholars working in the fields of anthropology, sociology, history of civilizations, migrations and dialogue between the different cultures of the Mediterranean.
The aim of the association is to bring together different sensibilities and scientific skills around sociological, economic and cultural themes inherent to the Mediterranean area, from the Maghreb to Muslim Asia.

It was founded in 1977 by the sensitivity of some passionate Astronomy enthusiasts, who, in addition to wanting to deepen their mutual knowledge, intended to promote the spread of scientific culture and in particular astronomical culture in the Livorno area. Over 5 million people around the world with their help allow the WWF to support its challenge: concrete projects every year for the protection of biodiversity and to create a world where man can live in harmony with nature. The Livorno section of the WWF is part of this large family and is the first local structure to be formed in Italy and was officially established in 1968.

The cultural association was founded in Livorno in October 2014, it is a place dedicated to the experience of reading and writing, with a wide educational proposal that ranges between the various forms of written and oral narration, without forgetting to spread a boundless passion for good reading. The School offers various modules dedicated to reading, creative writing (short story, novel, poetry), writing for cinema (screenplay, with the creation of a final short film), writing for the theater (dramaturgy, with the creation of a final show/reading) and oral narration (how to tell a story out loud).

It was refounded in 1977 by the Municipality of Livorno, the Province and the “P. Mascagni” Music Institute in the wake of the tradition linked to the ancient Livorno city band, which existed since the end of the 19th century and which had Giacomo Puccini as honorary president.
A band in each city performs a dual social function: that of ensuring the existence of a structure that offers young and old the opportunity to approach practical music and that of offering the possibility of providing soundtracks for the most important community events.

Founded in 1993, it deals with the Quality Popular Theatre, especially with Comici dell'Arte, Contastorie and Contafiabe. It collaborates with many organizations to spread the culture of the "theatre of the past" and to keep alive the artisan traditions such as the art of making leather stage masks.
